Wasn’t that a great event?
Essity Prudhoe Miners Race
The delayed Essity Prudhoe Miners Race went off with a bang on Sunday. The Junior Race for 7-14year olds kicked things off at 4pm and, as you can see from the fabulous image of the starting line, junior Plodders were all over it! It was incredible to see the huge crowd of them rushing off from the starting line and zooming around the streets, they all did the club proud! It was especially inspiring to see them take over the podium as well with the boy’s race won by Max Mountford with Arthur Byrne in 3rd and the girl’s race won by Martha Thomas with Lucy Carver in 2nd place. A huge congratulations to all the juniors that took part! And then it was the turn of the adults! There was an incredible turn out of 42 Plodder runners which was incredible to see. Each and every one set out with gusto and did themselves proud, Hammerite defeated no one! Well done all! Of course, the event would never have happened without the months of hard work behind the scenes and huge thanks have to go to many. Firstly, event director, Lisa Napier the woman of the hour not only on the day but for many many days beforehand and to those who abley supported her, notably Holly Kelleher and Lesley Ineson. In addition, without the generous support of Essity and Prudhoe Town Council the event would not have happened. Then thanks are very much due to all those who gave up their race or their Sunday evening time to marshal, photograph, hand out water, hand out medals and goodie bags and to those kindly residents of Prudhoe who came out and cheered the runners on. Finally, as was stated on the day without the fabulous help and support from the Miners Lamp Cafe and Community Hub things would have been infinitely harder! Here’s hoping the even grows even bigger and better next year and there are even more Plodders on the podiums! |
