What is it?

The Club Championship is a selection of races over a range of distances (5k, 8k, 5m, 10k, 10m & half marathon) for members to enter.

This year’s championship runs from 1 June 2024 – 30 April 2025. Runs up to end of December are listed below.

Runs from 1 Jan – 30 April 2025 will be added later in the year.

We’ve made some changes to the Plodders Championship this year, with points for participating, as well as your results.

Eligibility: Only first claim members are eligible for the Championships (as other clubs have their own championships).

The Rules:

  • You must register for races as a Plodder, and run in Plodders club colours.
  • You can enter as many of the listed runs/races as you like, but to be eligible for the Championship you need to complete a minimum of four runs.
  • You can complete four at the same distance, or a mix of distances. It’s up to you.
  • It will be YOUR responsibility to submit your results this year. The co-ordinator will only check race results in the event of a query.
  • Please submit your time within two weeks of each run on this form.
    • Late submissions will not count towards the Championship
    • When a run has chip timing, submit your chip time, not your gun time.
    • When you run a parkrun, submit your official parkrun result, not your watch/Strava time.
    • For any other run, you should submit your elapsed time from your watch or Strava, not your moving time.

Club Championship Points

  • One participation point is awarded for every Championship run you complete.
  • Additional points will be awarded based on WAVA age-graded percentages. This article explains how age grading works: https://www.runnersworld.com/advanced/a20794116/a-guide-to-age-grading/
  • Members will be split into the following age groups:
    • Male Senior (under 40), then Vet Categories MV40-49, MV50+
    • Female Seniors (under 35), then Vet Categories FV35-44, FV45-54, FV55+
  • For WAVA percentages, points will be awarded for each race, in each age group, as follows: First = 10 points, second = nine points, third = eight points […] ninth = two points, tenth = 1 point.

Club Championship

  • At the end of the Championship, each eligible member’s total participation points plus their four highest WAVA results points will be added together to give them a final score.
  • All age group results will then be collated into male and female points rankings
  • First, second and third place males and females will be announced at the 2025 awards night.
  • In the event of a tie, the average score per race will be used to decide the result.

Championship Runs June-December:

Disputes and Adjudication

  • In the event of any dispute, a request must be made in writing to the Club Committee to review the dispute.
  • The Club Committee decision will be final.
