History of Prudhoe Plodders In 2015, our Head Coach, Holly Kelleher, qualified as a Leader in Run Fitness for a local Triathlon club and launched a free C25k programme in Prudhoe. The success and demand for this programme was overwhelming, and over 100 people signed up in the first year. The initial aim of the programme was to engage new runners in local clubs, but instead most C25k graduates decided to form their own, smaller, social running groups under a new banner of C210k. In April 2017, Holly offered to coach the C10k runners on a more formal basis, as a free Run Together group, named ‘Prudhoe Plodders’. Led by a qualified Coach in Running Fitness, the focus would be good technique and injury prevention – becoming strong runners, rather than just faster runners. The newly formed Prudhoe Plodders had their first ‘pilot’ session at Highfield Park on 28th April, relocating to our current home of Regents Drive in May. By 2018 the group had expanded to 200 registered runners, and a coaching team of 9. It was decided to formalise the group to Prudhoe Plodders Running Club in March 2018, with a new elected committee, but the same ethos of strength over speed, accessible to all abilities, and FUN. Welcome to Prudhoe Plodders Running Club.
